Plane Tickets – Buy Early or Wait?

Here’s a great NY Times article today on something most of us wonder about:

Hotel Room Rates Rebound in N. America’s Priciest Cities

Folks are asking me quite a bit these days about the economy as well as global issues, and asking “aren’t they making hotel rates cheaper”? Truth is room rates are rebounding in North America’s priciest cities. Consumers were able to land relatively good rates on hotel rooms in New York and Honolulu last year, but prices in the most expensive North American cities are starting to head up. Last year, prices on hotel rooms in New York, Honolulu, Chicago, Boston and other major cities dropped 2% on average. In 2009, prices on hotel rooms in those cities plunged 10% or more. “There is still value [for consumers] in the marketplace, but we seem to be slowly climbing out of the ditch,” said Victor Owens, vice president of Hotels.com.

Attitude And Gratitude – What Matters Most!

A little something to share that I think is straight on the money!

http://www.openforum.com/idea-hub/topics/lifestyle/article/attitude-and-gratitudewhat-matters-most-john-mariotti?cid=em-smartbrief

From the Article: Life is a series of choices. You get to choose. My first book, (John Mariotti) The Power of Partnerships, was all about partnering in a business sense, with customers, associates, suppliers and truth-tellers. These are critical choices about whom you choose to work with and around. I chose the acronym, CAST, to describe those most important partners. Choosing the right partners is critically important.

If you choose the right partners, and have the right attitude, you will get plenty of chances to show gratitude. If not, well, let’s hope you don’t make the wrong choices. Remember, life is like that mirror, it reflects back to you whatever you show it. Make the right choices. Keep working on that positive, upbeat attitude, and when it works and it will show true gratitude. Say “please,” and then say “thank you.” Your life will be so much better, all because of your attitude and gratitude.

A big THANK YOU to all our partners and friends out there. We’re making RIGHT choices! Happy Wednesday everybody!

NYCGO

December 9, 2010  |  Comments Off  |  by contract_admin  |  Blog, News

The gal pals over at NYCGO.com sent over this past week some fabulous updates for NYC including 2-for-1 Broadway tickets through Feb. 10th!

Check out their great site at http://www.nycgo.com/

I always really appreciate this level of local destination marketing. Like most of us, travelling and getting the locals “scoop” really can make the adventure a personal one, and less a feeling of the foreign tourista stumbling about.

One thing I tend to keep a close ear the wall for are those hidden gems – the Free Events. It seems to me you can meet the most interesting folks that way, many of these events are children/family friendly, and  you can get your eyes ears and pocket book around some amazing original art deals. Check out the NYC ‘free’ section – http://www.nycgo.com/free

How great would it be to stumble upon the The Master of the Blue Jeans during your trip!

Before the day of designer denim, and long before Lycra, the blue jean made up the utilitarian pant of the workingman. And while variations of the sturdy fabric are said to have been present since the 14th century, little material evidence exists. The Master of the Blue Jeansan exhibition at the Didier Aaron gallery organized by Gerlinde Gruber, curator at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Viennaproves intriguing for its unexpected subject matter as well as unanswered questions about its authorship. The collection of seven paintings, thought to be from 17th-century Italy, depict an early appreciation of jeans. The subjects are beggars, but are portrayed with a dignity typically reserved for royalty at the time. Formerly attributed to Michael Sweerts, Diego Velazquez and Georges de La Tour, these works have since been identified as more than likely sharing a common, though unknown, hand. The Master of the Blue Jeans remains on display through February 4.

Can you tell I’m excited to get back to the big apple this summer?
